Crop Circles

Formations in standing crops of grain were first investigated in the south of England in the early 1970s. These were simple circles or clusters but over the years the formations became more and more intricate and complex. The “circle” name stuck. Their origin is less and less of a mystery in that we know that they are not man made except for a small number of hoaxes. This is a very vast area of research covering hundreds of formations appearing worldwide but curiously concentrated in England. I will not attempt to cover this topic but offer you some of my personal experiences.

In 1996, my family had just returned to Ireland from a four-week visit to the US. We had returned a week early as my “inner voice” told me before we left for New Mexico to actually change our travel plans from a five to four week holiday but I did not know why. On our return I immediately did. The day after our arrival back in Ireland, I picked up the phone to talk to my friend Don Dennis in England about flower essences.  But an unusual audible voice inside my head said “crop circles” just before I put the phone to my ear. That was weird, but when Don answered he did not talk about our collaboration with essence making but instead immediately asked “How  would  you like check out some crop circles?”

The same day my wife Jennifer had found out that a very good friend was in Dublin hospital. We drove up. She and our kids stayed in Dublin and I made a quick hop over to the UK. The next morning Don and I were zipping off to investigate two new circles in Chisledon, Nr Swindon, Oxfordshire, England.

Once in the general area we located the fields.  We were met by a very friendly farmer, who had set up a small table at the roadside. He kindly asked for two pounds as entry fee. Farmers loose money from flattened crops.  I asked him if crop circles had ever appeared before and what he felt about them?

He said this was the first time formations had appeared on his property. To my delight he said he felt privileged that they were on his land. Two had appeared in a field on the same day. He explained how to enter them by directing us to the proper tramlines, the earthen paths made by huge tractor combines.

I found that as I got closer and closer to the closest formation, I had to actually lean forwards against a powerful repelling force. When I reached the edge of the circle it stopped. I was now inside the force field not fighting it.  Immediately I experienced a surprising deep feeling of reverence. The space before me was indeed a sacred. Felt like a temple. I took my shoes off.

The next thing that caught my attention was how the wheat had been carefully laid down. Every single blade was perfectly placed side by side. An outer ring of wheat a few inches wide went clockwise while the rest of the wheat was laid in the opposite direction. I stepped carefully in keeping with the flow of the laid down sheaf.

Lucky for us this was a brand new formation made the day before. We were some of the first visitors, so this lay of the crop was fresh, powerful and undisturbed. Inside the formation the air was heavy similar to the energy I had felt walking on my way towards it. Then “things” began to happen strange and wonderful things.

All of a sudden wishing sounds echoed again and again.  I thought this might have been the sound of the wheat swishing down very quickly when the formation was made.  Then it suddenly stopped.  No one else heard this.

I walked deeper into the formation. From below my feet, I heard and almost felt drumming very loud and powerful.  It seemed out of place in the quiet countryside. I knew this drumming it reminded me of Native American ceremonial drums. This time the music was just below the surface. Then there was swishing again and then the drumming, deep and rhythmic. None of this made any sense. But it was very cool. I continued to walk through the formation. As I walked on the drumming stopped.

I was mesmerized by the lay of the crop, the floor pattern of the flattened wheat.  Such detail of contrasting flows and counter flows and a major delta of wheat heads fanning out perfectly in-between a circle of standing wheat and the tip of crescent. Strangely on just one side of the formation was a major platting of sheaves like a woman’s single braid about two feet wide and nine feet in length. Nothing like it anywhere else in this formation.

Next I found myself in the very centre of the crop circle where the two crescents met.

My inner guidance said “look up at the sky”.  I did and saw what normally would be the moon.  But on second look or second thought I got it. No, that is not the moon that is the earth. I was looking at the earth as if I was standing on the moon, a beautiful “blue marble” just as viewed from outer space. Inside my head I heard, “This is the future earth.” Peaceful Beautiful Serene.

The crop circle in the adjacent field was very different in its structure. The many circles that made the formation were separate creating the overall design. They wheat was laid down in alternating clockwise and counter clockwise circles. The overall image was very abstract with a teardrop in the centre. This is where I had my next experience of time and space dialation but not into the future but into the past.

Walking through the circles you could feel the energies flow in one direction and then the next depending on the direction of the floor pattern for the wheat. It was only when I entered into the teardrop that I saw some thing not above me but below. This is when I understood what I had “heard” in the first formation that “Time is layered. The Future is above us and the past below”.

Below my feet I saw a scene from a Hopi village in the past. We had spent time at one of the Hopi villages before we moved to Ireland and were familiar with some of their ceremonies. From my vantage point I saw three young women who were standing together on an outside set of stairs. Dressed in traditional clothing they were all watching a ceremony nearby. Their hairstyles as in the pictures below are unique to their tribe. My first reaction was “this does not make sense”. How could people from another time and place be under my feet in the south of England? And why? First and foremost experiences in these formations are very individual. What is experienced in the same formation will differ for each person.

A word for the skeptics: it is very easy to tell a hoax from a genuine crop circle – aside from the energy inside. Actual formations have no broken stems, are intricate with small nested woven clusters or sprays like fountains or just a few stalks laid down over many yards. No foot prints or possibility of entry. The grains themselves inside the formation are enlarged or scorched. Insects are impaled, stuck to the grain wings outstretched. Strange images are captured on cameras, magnetic phenomena have been recorded on the ground and also by low flying aircraft. These are things that I have personally witnessed.

Formations are so large that they are not fully viewable from ground level. For example:

The image below instantly appeared on Milk Hill near Alton Barnes, Wiltshire, without any sign of human activity early on the morning of July 12, 2001. It is 900 hundred feet in diameter and covers a total of 700,000 square feet. (Estimated manpower 10 people over a week to create. )
